The Pasadena Police Department, in conjunction with many other community partners, has participated in planning a Parent and Caregiver conference coordinated by Day One. “This effort is not just about keeping kids out of trouble or preventing crime. This is about how to influence kids so they go in the right direction and give parents resources and ideas to help their children grow. This conference was designed to help all parents and caregivers,” says Interim Chief of Police Christopher Vicino. “Usually, law enforcement gets involved after a family is already in some sort of crisis. If we can help prevent that by giving parents and caregivers the tools and resources they need to positively influence and guide their young charges to productive lives, the whole community benefits. This is right in alignment with our Prevention, Intervention and Enforcement (PIE) philosophy and that is why we have supported our community partners in this effort.”
The Conference is on March 27, 2010 from 8:00am to 3:30pm at Pasadena City College Education Center, 3035 E Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena. To register, call Day One at 626-229-9750 or email Day One staff at staff@dayonepasadena.com.
