DUI Saturation Enforcement Program To Curb Holiday Drinking and Driving Will Be Conducted

Published: Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

The Pasadena Police Department will conduct a DUI Saturation
Program on Friday December 18, 2009. This enforcement program will be deployed
throughout the Pasadena area. The hours of operation will be between 8:00 pm – 3:00
am.
“This is the beginning of the Holiday season where it is very common to celebrate with
alcohol. Our enforcement efforts are focused on keeping those who over imbibe from
driving and risking their lives and the lives of others,” says Interim Chief of Police
Christopher Vicino. “This program is an effective tool for achieving that goal.”
Traffic Lieutenant Randell Taylor says, “These programs also provide the opportunity to
educate the public about driving habits and consequences of drinking and driving. The
potential for impaired drivers to become involved in a traffic collision is greater due to
slowed responses or poor decision making while under the influence of alcohol or
drugs. We want to remind people that if they decide to drink, don’t drive. Use a
designated driver.”
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic
Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
