Body of Missing Arcadia Man Found in Forest

Body of Missing Arcadia Man Found in Forest On January 4 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the 2007 Toyota Matrix belonging to Julius Tinsley was located by the California Highway Patrol in the San Bernardino National Forest. The unoccupied vehicle was parked in a turnout along highway 18 approximately 2 miles north of the Snow Valley ski resort.

Officials from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department and Arcadia Police Department responded to where Mr. Tinsley’s vehicle was located. A search and rescue operation was conducted by SBSD Search & Rescue, who located a body approximately 300 feet down the embankment. The body was identified by San Bernardino Coroner investigators as Julius Tinsley of Arcadia. A cause of death is under investigation by the San Bernardino Sheriff/Coroner.

Mr. Tinsley, 81, who also goes by the name, “Cotton”, was last seen by neighbors outside his residence during the evening hours of December 31 and family discovered him missing from his residence during the early morning hours on New Year’s Day.

During the initial search for the missing man, the Arcadia Police Department said that there was no indication of foul play surrounding Mr. Tinsley’s disappearance.
