A visibly delighted and now victorious Erica Valentine, strutting his ever-faithful sweet Stratocaster, was selected from over 20 Doo Dah Queen hopefuls Saturday afternoon at the American Legion Post 280.
The judges, a delightful motley crew of professionals and those wishing they were ‘professional’ (plus a host of previous Doo Dah celebs), picked this year’s winner over some stiff competition, including a naked opera singer who many felt sure would win as she could sing too!
Valentine has been a perennial Queen candidate and this year has been selected as the first-ever male queen to the delight of all revelers in attendance Saturday. The guitar work of this uncommonly tall diva is well-respected by bands with whom he’s worked. For his 2010 attempt, Snotty Scotty and Horses on Astroturf backed up the axe Queen’s exceptionally fast fingers as he made love to the fretboard.
The wild and wonderful party atmosphere, emceed by Dr. Demento this year, has been a rite of passage for the eclectic Doo Dah crew and devotees for centuries ( well, okay, few decades )

    I am so pleased to welcome Queen Erica into the Royal fold. He was a wonderful 1st runnerup during my reign and has long shown his dedication to spreading the spirit of Doo Dah~ plus he’s as talented as his legs are long! Congratulations to our 33rd Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Queen Erica Valentine!!
