“Charting a New Course” is the theme of Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard’s 2010 State of the City event Thursday, Jan. 28, at La Salle High School, 3880 E. Sierra Madre Blvd.
From 6:30 to 7 p.m. guests will visit with each other and stop by information tables featuring the programs and services of various city departments.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. with Vice Mayor Victor Gordo serving as master of ceremonies. The colors will be presented by a color guard from Marine Corps Reserve Center in Pasadena; Douglas Kearny, a poet published by Pasadena-based Red Hen Press, will recite his work titled “Parade”; and a video presentation will highlight the accomplishments of the past year in Pasadena.
During his remarks to the community, Bogaard will provide updates and future plans regarding the economy, public and private investment, water and energy challenges, the General Plan, public schools and more.
Refreshments will be provided after the program. Parking will be available in the school lot on Sierra Madre Boulevard and at the north side of the lot at Sierra Madre United Methodist Church, 695 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. Handicapped parking will be available behind the school (enter on Michillinda Avenue). Please be mindful of neighbors and do not park on Canfield Road.
The program will be videotaped for delayed broadcast on KPAS and via streaming video on the Internet. A replay schedule will be announced.
