Future Farmers of America Float in its final stages Wednesday - Photo by Terry Miller
Each year Pasadena is host to hundreds of thousands of visitors, many of whom come to see the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl football game(s). Over the past few months the city has been preparing for the single biggest day of the year, Jan. 1 2010.
The Pasadena Independent has covered many events leading up to the grand finale so here is a slide show of some of the major events and people who make up this year’s Rose Parade. From the selection of the Rose Court and subsequently the Queen to lunch with Rose Queens as far back as 1940. From small independent float builders like Sierra Madre to to thousands of dollars spent by companies like Trader Joe’s who hire professional float builders. Two of the largest in the world, Phoenix and Fiesta are right here in Pasadena. The events that lead up to the the parade and game are part of the pageantry so indicitive of Pasadena.

I am guilty as many people are-we take for granted the pictures provided to us by our local newspapers. I am enjoying slid show on my computer and must thank Terry Miller-the person responsible for taking these great photos. My wife Denise volunteers her services for the Rose Parade Queen and her Court, she has been styling hair for these very special ladies for 21 straight years. Keep up the great work Terry-you capture these moments perfectly, and I hope to meet you bright and early at “Tourney House” 1/01/10.
We try very hard to be a newspaper/web publishing company that really covers local events with as many photo essays as possible. We ( I) really appreciate the time you took to write to us.
Happy New Year.
