The Pasadena Police Command staff recently traded their uniforms for aprons when they grilled almost 800 hot dogs for the grand re-opening of the Robinson Park.
“It was our pleasure to be able to take one of our basic tenets – We exist to Serve the Community – and serve up hot dogs to hundreds community members that day,” puns Interim Chief of Police Christopher Vicino. “It was a wonderful way to give. After being a part of that celebration, we wanted to do more. I am a huge baseball enthusiast. When I saw the field and heard about the West Pasadena Little League’s effort to raise money, we donated $500 to that effort through the Pasadena Police Foundation’s Small Community Grants. Besides being fun for the kids, we know that sports programs are important crime deterrents.”
“The teaming of the Pasadena Police Department and the members of the Pasadena Police Foundation has brought multiple resources together in support of
numerous Pasadena Police programs that serve youth,” says current Foundation Board Chair Bob Baderian. “Over the years, we’ve been able to enhance the department’s community policing efforts by raising tens of thousands of dollars. Our goal is to ‘Help Cops Give Kids Hope’ by providing programming that would be difficult or impossible to sustain with General Fund dollars. We invite the community to join us in that effort at any time.”
