Last weekend, Pasadena firefighters at station 33 played host for Fire Service Day. The annual opportunity for residents to meet firefighters and get a chance to see examples of what the firefighters go through on a typical day on duty. Residents got a chance to try out fire extinguishing as well as watch a demonstration of how the jaws of life are used in a car accident.
One of the more spectacular evens was the car fire. Firefighters carefully recreated the scenario of arriving on scene of a car fully involved in flames, in this case a Ford Taurus. Residents watched as an engine company arrived, assessed the situation and put out the fire within a matter on a few seconds.
Other activities included free hot dogs and games for the children.
