Celebrating 100 Years – Marion Melon

100 years Marion Melon celebrated her 100th Birthday at Monrovia Community Center Tuesday morning with accolades from outgoing Mayor Rob Hammond and Father Charles during a special luncheon in her honor.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Marion survived two marriages – one of 39 years and the other of 2 1/2 – both of her husbands died of cancer.

100  41 Marion moved here to be with her best friend, Betty Stiles who always accompanies her to the senior meetings where she has been a member for 9 years and never missed a single meeting.

The New Horizons Senior Club in Monrovia honored Marion who was born May 10, 1909. Father Charles presented a letter from Cardinal Mahoney honoring the special occasion.
Marion only just recently stopped driving at the tender age of 99.
