Black History Parade on Tap for Saturday Morning

Pasadena’s Black History Parade on Saturday, Feb. 20, will feature as its celebrity grand marshals Michaela Pereira and Gayle Anderson of KTLA-TV, Channel 5.
Pereira joined the KTLA team as co-anchor of the Morning Show in 2004 and has won several Radio & TV News Association Gold Mic Awards. She is chairwoman of the board of LA’s BEST Friends, an after-school education, enrichment and recreation program, and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the Black Journalists Association of Southern California and American Women in Radio and Television. She is also active with the NAACP.
Anderson has been a reporter with the KTLA Morning News since 1993. She is the recipient of seven Emmy Awards and is active in several charitable organizations including the Los Angeles Public Library Foundation and the Watts-based Mama Hill’s Help.
The parade’s community grand marshals will be Gregory Mosley and Juanita West-Tillman.
Mosley’s local volunteer involvement has included the Robinson Park Master Plan Committee, W.D. Edson Neighborhood Improvement Association, Pasadena YMCA and Pasadena Neighborhood Housing Services.
West-Tillman is chairwoman of the Pasadena NAACP’s Education Committee, treasurer of the Pasadena Council of Women’s Clubs and advisor to John Muir High School’s Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Charles White Park, located on Ventura Street at Fair Oaks Avenue in Altadena, and will end at Robinson Park, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. in Pasadena.
Following the parade, a family festival from noon to 4 p.m. at Robinson Park will include live music, food, information booths and more.
