American Legion Post 280 in Pasadena to Host Doo Dah Queen Try Outs This Saturday, Feb 13

Published: Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Don’t know what to get your Valentine this year? How about a special party to witness the side-splitting and uproarious tryouts for the 2010 Doo Dah Queen. This annual rite of passage ( nothing like the Rose Queen tryouts ) is perhaps one of the funniest albeit harebrained and irreverent events, running up to the world famous Doo Dah Parade which will be held May Day this year.

After 33 years in Old Pasadena The Doo Dah Parade is moving to East Pasadena.

The parade will kick off in its new location on May 1. The exact route has not been worked out, but it will stretch between San Gabriel Boulevard and Sierra Madre Boulevard in the area known as Lamanda Park.

The number of contestants this year is a well-guarded secret but you won’t be sorry. Each candidate usually spends a couple of minutes on stage ranting and raving, singing or dancing or just plain acting while the judges ask a few poignant and extraordinary questions about their particular eligibility.

While the officials tally the judges’ decision, the world’s oldest rockers( aside from the Rolling Stones) -Snotty Scotty and his Hankies and Horses on Astroturf will perform a set or two of classic rock ‘n roll.

179 North Vinedo Avenue, Pasadena, 626-792-9938 $5.00 Admission
